Getting a clean capture.
Draft for owner review.
The guidance below is taken from the app's documentation. Confirm it against a device before publishing, and add the real contact route.
Before you record
- Use a steady phone and a well-lit neck. Keep the frets, strings, and your fretting hand in the frame.
- Choose your tuning in the capture menu. The app does not detect tuning automatically.
- Let the app find the board. If the grid is slightly off, tap Snap; if it counts the frets wrongly, double-tap the nut. Handles can be dragged for anything coarse.
- Markers are optional. If your guitar moves a lot, print the marker sheet from the app, stick three or four targets on the headstock and body, and tap each one during setup.
If the camera cannot track
The capture screen says "This device does not support camera tracking." when ARKit is unavailable. Practice still works with the fretboard and microphone. The simulator never has a camera; use a physical iPhone.
If the microphone is denied
The tuner and practice screens show an Open Settings button. Enable the microphone for Chord Capture under Settings, then return to the app. Without the microphone, recording trusts the hand alone and no notes are confirmed by sound.
Reading the result
- Notes the camera did not confirm are labelled as estimates. Edit them in Edit TAB.
- Key and BPM are estimates. BPM can be edited on the session screen; short clips may not contain enough information.
- Once a timeline has been edited, Reanalyze is unavailable so the edited score is not mixed with the original recording clock.
Practice tips
- Each cue needs its own distinct attack. Holding a chord does not score repeatedly.
- Starter drills require standard tuning. Strum arrows show direction; direction is not graded.
- Use Watch demo to see a labelled automatic run without a guitar.
Exports
From a session's share menu you can send TAB text, a MIDI file, the original recording, and the captured video. Songs made in Create song export the same way.
