Chord Capture keeps your playing on your phone.
Last updated: date to confirm · Applies to: Chord Capture for iPhone, bundle com.mobilewolf.GuitarCapture
What the app does with your camera and microphone
Chord Capture uses the camera to see your fretting hand and the guitar neck, and the microphone to hear which notes sound. This is how it records which strings and frets you play, tunes your guitar, and judges practice attempts. Both permissions are requested only when you open a feature that needs them, and the app keeps working in a reduced way if you decline.
Where processing happens
All analysis runs on your iPhone: hand tracking, fretboard calibration, pitch and onset detection, the bundled Core ML pitch-refinement model, chord lookup, and playback sounds. The app contains no networking code. It does not connect to any server, and it does not download models or content after installation.
What is stored, and where
- Recordings, imported audio and video, the editable performance timeline, and derived files such as TAB and MIDI are stored in the app's private container on your phone.
- Preferences such as tuning, camera facing, marker settings, and a saved guitar calibration are stored in the app's preferences on your phone.
- Diagnostic files that describe the most recent capture are written to the app's Documents folder on your phone for troubleshooting. They are not sent anywhere.
- Deleting the app removes all of the above.
What is not collected
- No account or sign-in exists.
- No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking software is included.
- No personal information, contact details, location, or identifiers are collected.
- No recordings, images, or audio leave the phone unless you choose to share them.
Sharing and exporting
When you use Share on a session, marker sheet, TAB, MIDI, audio, or video, iOS hands the file to the app or service you pick. What happens next is governed by that app or service, not by Chord Capture.
Photos and Files access
Importing uses Apple's system pickers. The app receives only the item you choose and never browses your library.
Children
Owner to confirm whether the app is directed at children and what age rating will be chosen in App Store Connect.
Changes to this policy
If a future version adds features that change any statement above, this page and the App Store privacy details will be updated before that version ships.
